The host of Nigerian footballers
in Ukraine are having a raw deal as the second half of the league could
not resume as scheduled, based on the conflict which has engulfed the
country and her more powerful neighbour, Russia. The Ukrainian league
had gone on break last December and was scheduled to resume in February
this year but all the matches had to be cancelled or postponed due to
the crisis between the two countries which emerged from old USSR.Two rounds of matches have failed to hold and it remains to be seen if this weekend's fixtures would go on as scheduled, with the political hostilities between the two countries which center on Crimea Peninsula yet to be resolved. With the possibility of the crisis threatening to result into war, it is understandable why football and other sporting activities have remained on hold, while the international community is still seeking ways to find solutions to the problem.
Topmost amongst Super Eagles stars plying their trade in the Ukrainian topflight league are Brown Ideye and Haruna Lukman both of Dynamo Kyiv; Babatunde Michael of Volyn Lutsk and former Dream Team IV star, Harmony Ikande who plays for Hoverla
