Director-General of NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii.
The
National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control on Monday
said it would involve youth corps members in its campaign to rid the
country of fake and counterfeit drugs.
The Director General of the agency, Mr
Paul Orhii, said this at the inauguration of the NYSC Community
Development Service Group in Kaduna.
He said the agency would engage the corps
members because they had the energy and capacity to reach out to and
mobilise all strata of the society to join the campaign.
Represented by Alhaji Abubakar Jimoh, the
Director, Special Duties of the agency, Orhii said fighting
counterfeiting of regulated products was one of the greatest challenges
facing regulatory agencies all over the world.
“With globalisation, different aspects of
production are handled by a vast network of companies across different
countries, this poses great challenges with respect to quality and
safety of regulated products.’
