President Goodluck Jonathan will inaugurate the Advisory Committee on National Dialogue on Monday October 7, 2013.
Meanwhile, the President has approved
the appointment of Dr. Joe Abah as the Director-General of the Bureau
for Public Service Reforms.
Abah, whose appointment takes effect from August 30, 2013 has since resumed duties.
A statement issued on Friday in Abuja by
the Special Assistant (Media) to the Secretary to the Government of the
Federation, Mr. Sam Nwaobasi, said the inauguration ceremony of the
Committee will take place at the Council Chambers of the State House,
Aso Villa, Abuja.
According to him, accommodation has been
reserved for members of the Committee at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel
from Sunday October 6, 2013.
The Presidency had approved the
membership and terms of reference of the Federal Government’s Advisory
Committee on National Dialogue.
The Secretary to the Government of the
Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, had named Dr. Femi Okurunmu as
Chairman while Dr. Akilu Indabawa will act as its Secretary.
Others members of the committe are Prof.
George Obiozo; Prof. Ben Nwabueze (SAN), Senator Khairat Gwadabe;
Senator Timothy Adudu, Col. Tony Nyiam (Rtd) and Prof. Funke Adebayo.
The other members of the committee are
Dr. (Mrs.) Mairo Amshi, Dr. Abubakar Sadiq, Alhaji Dauda Birma, Mallam
Buhari Bello and Mr. Tony Uranta.
The committee’s terms of reference are:
To consult expeditiously with all
relevant stakeholders with a view to drawing up a feasible agenda for
the proposed national dialogue/conference
To make recommendations to government on structure and modalities for the proposed national dialogue/conference
To make recommendations to government on
how representation of various interest groups at the national
dialogue/conference will be determined.
To advise on a timeframe for the national dialogue/conference.
